January 2006 - Modern Steel Construction
Magazine invites Jenkins & Charland to write an article on
the Unique Steel Design for the Sarasota Herald-Tribune Headquarters
& SNN 6 Television Studio Building
The article, written by Jay Dimercurio, P.E., Manager of Engineering
for the Sarasota office of Jenkins & Charland, will appear
in the January 2006 issue of Modern Steel Construction. The New
York Times Inc. decided to build a new headquarters building for
their subsidiary, Sarasota Herald-Tribune and SNN 6 Television.
They chose Miami-based Arquitectonica, a design architect known
for their unique, modern buildings. Arquitectonica designed a
signature building that reflects the style of the celebrated mid-century
architects of Sarasota but one that is thoroughly up to the minute
in technology and construction. Jenkins & Charland, Structural
Engineers on the project, suggested steel to facilitate construction,
expedite the schedule and achieve the elegant aesthetic the architect
envisioned.
