Edison Community College Allied Health Facility - Lee County Campus, Fort Myers, Florida
Jenkins & Charland provided structural engineering services to the architect on this two-story, 67,000 S.F. instructional and support facility, including anatomy and physiology, cardiovascular technology, dental hygiene, micro-biology/clinical laboratory science, nursing, occupational therapy/physical therapy, respiratory care, and radiology technology. A portion of the existing Gresham Hall facility was adaptively reused for Emergency Management Services (EMS).

Florida International University: School of Law - Miami, FL
The Fort Lauderdale office of Jenkins & Charland, Inc. is providing structural engineering and construction administration services for the University's new $25 million College of Law located on the University Park Campus in Miami. The new Law School includes an auditorium, teaching laboratories, study centers, offices and campus support services. The project is 150,000 total gross square feet with 45% of assignable space allocated to the Law Library. The 60- and 80-seat classrooms are designed with tiered seating and there are also two mock courtrooms, that include a Judge's bench equivalent in size to that in the U.S. Supreme Court.

Key Structural Components
  • Floor system is a reinforced concrete slab on precast concrete joists
  • High-strength, load bearing concrete masonry unit exterior walls
  • Shallow spread footing foundation system
  • Reading room is supported by long-span, composite steel wide flange beams that float 50 feet above the auditorium below
  • Auditorium walls are 35 feet high with considerable glazing, and are constructed of a structural steel frame supporting long span, open web, steel roof joists

Seacrest Country Day School Expansion - Naples, Florida
Jenkins & Charland, Inc. provided structural engineering services to the architect on this two-story, 17,000 S.F. addition to the existing private school. Also included were two single-story, 4,250 S.F. administration buildings connected by a covered walkway entrance area. The expansion included classrooms, resource center, media/conference room and administration.

Wellington Elementary School - Palm Beach County, Florida
Jenkins & Charland provided structural engineering services for this new $8.5 Million elementary school. The 100,000 S.F. facility has concrete tilt-up wall panels, interior steel columns, shallow foundations; the second floor has a concrete slab over form deck on steel joists and girders.

Seagate Elementary School Addition & Remodeling - Collier County, Florida
Jenkins & Charland, Inc. provided structural engineering services to the architect on this one-story, 22,500 S.F. addition to the existing elementary school. The new construction consisted of 12 new classrooms, physical education storage, faculty lounge, skills lab, new pay court and exterior improvements. There was 19,000 S.F. remodeled space that included expanding existing classrooms, administrative offices, media center and food preparation area.
