Jenkins & Charland, Inc. provided design and construction phase services for the architect on this ultra fast-track (topped out in 15 weeks) facility that serves as a central connectivity point for providers of telephone, Internet, cable and other telecommunications lines. Only six stories high with floor-to-floor heights of 17 feet, the structure has the same height as a 16-story building, and occupies a city block in Miami.

Key Structural Components
  • The building rests on 1,250 auger- cast piles set 45’ deep
  • 300,000 concrete blocks
  • Composed of 90,000 lin. ft. of precast beams and joists, over 38,000 cu. yds. of concrete, 3,000 tons of reinforcing steel and 7,500 tons of roof ballast
  • Typical floors rated at 180 pounds/sq.ft.; 300 pounds/sq.ft. at building corners

The Fort Lauderdale office of Jenkins & Charland, Inc. is providing structural engineering design, contract administration and threshold inspection services for this $72 million, 25-story, oceanfront 5-star luxury resort condo/hotel tower.

Situated on almost 2 acres on Fort Lauderdale Beach, the 660,000 sq.ft., 333 unit development offers world-class hotel amenities and services that include expansive balconies with magnificent ocean views, state-of-the art security and telecommunications, a sixth floor pool deck overlooking the Atlantic Ocean with two spas, pool side cabanas, fitness center, pool side restaurant and indoor/outdoor bar. The ground floor features include commercial/retail spaces, an ocean side bistro, a 424-space covered parking garage, a 2,700 square foot, 200-seat ballroom and meeting facilities.
